This note explains how on-line checkpoints may not rollforward properly if tables are split between locations. Most people who read this note fail to grasp why it is important. Some just plain do not believe it! (I tested it out, my rollforwarddb worked!) Read it. Play out the scenario in your head. IT IS A PROBLEM. For other juicy little checkpoint tidbits, you might try reading my Ingres World 93 paper available on the ftp site: ftp.adc.com /pub/ingres/IngresWorld93/mikes_paper.ps or, for some early OpenIngres 1.1 information, try ftp.adc.com /pub/ingres/IngresWorld94/Backup.ps (revised) ftp.adc.com /pub/ingres/IngresWorld94/Backup.slides (1.1 info) |--------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Michael Leo | The Ingres FAQ is at ftp.adc.com, /pub/ingres. | | ADC Telecommunications | Also check out /pub/ingres/utilities/NAIUA for | | Minneapolis, MN, USA | the NAIUA Tool Kit.
