However, if they don't match, ipm will report strange things, such as the inability to get lock info for the lock list displays, etc. If you are doing database copying tricks, it's OK to manually update the dbid in iidbdb's iidatabase table (you'll need +U). What can get you into considerably more trouble are the other things in the cnf file: the iirelation pointers, the next table ID number, the journal addresses and journal file numbers, etc. If you are copying cnf files around and trying to fake out ingres, it's a Real Good Idea to stop; look very carefully at the infodb output, and pretend you're the server. (Do I care about this number? what happens if that number doesn't match? etc.) Karl R.
